Our Story
Bear the weight of life among the cicada paper
"It turns out that my own art is very important to those people." Tommy never imagined that a piece of rice paper as thin as a cicada's wings could carry such a heavy emotion. Every time a piece is printed, it gives the fish a new meaning on the paper. Precisely because this art can touch the body of a fish and feel the weight of life, Tommy wants to promote him even more. Therefore, he will also cooperate with museums, NGOs and other institutions to hold gyotaku experience classes to promote this relatively rare art to the public. "
Take a Biology Lesson Through the Gyotaku Process
"I think many people may not have the opportunity to touch an uncooked fish, know its touch, shape, and how its fins unfold." Tommy looked at Gyotaku's works and could tell the fish's story casually species, "For example, this is a blackhead, which is special in that it has two dorsal fins, and the dace next to it has only one. Or this is the iconic tail of a tuna, and each fish has its own special features , can be distinguished by its characteristics. If you usually just eat it, you won’t pay attention to these details of the fish.”
